As schools have returned to in-person learning in the province there are some people who have asked why we are still running our school online. The answer is simple, and multifaceted. First off, the Ministry of Education graduation requirements state that students need to have a minimum number of credits earned online, but that is not our main reason. We recognize that not all students learn the same way, and the traditional method of in-person instruction is not a good fit for everyone. We have students who are on traveling sport teams who cannot attend regular classes, but do not want to fall behind in their studies. There are students who face inclusion barriers who feel safer in a non-traditional learning environment, there are students who physically are unable to attend in-person classes due to illness, family obligations, travel and/or location. Yet these students deserve an education just like any other student. As the world has shifted to remote work, families may travel for business and want to have their children with them. No problem with our learning model, students can learn at their own pace, on their own time in whatever global time-zone they are in, all with the same support of an in-person school.
